Search records, Director, 1981-1982.

Upon the death of Milo B. Howard, director of the Archives in 1981, a search committee was formed to initiate a nationwide search for a new director. The committee was composed of Archbishop Oscar H. Lipscomb, James E. Simpson, Robert E. Steiner III, and Judge C. J. Coley. This series consists of the paperwork that resulted from the search for Mr. Howard's successor. Included among the papers are news articles about Mr. Howard, inquiries about the position, correspondence and resumes from job applicants, recommendations from professionals about applicants' qualifications, and correspondence between the search committee members. Also included is a report on the status of the Archives written by a consultant hired by Governor Fob James.
